Take 10 minutes, gather courage and test in the comfort of your home for cervical cancer.
The Evalyn brush (Rovers medical) self-collection test is a very sensitive, gentle means of collecting biological material with a smear from the vaginal mucosa. The vaginal swab thus removed will be examined for the presence of oncogenic types of human papillomavirus (HPV).
Why take an HPV test?
- Cancer extensively studied of the cervix is the most common cancer disease 4 women. It is caused by an HPV virus infection that can be detected in time. Cytological results say nothing about the presence of HPV infection. In contrast, the HPV test directly detects the DNA of the HPV virus .
- The test is very suitable for detecting HPV positivity before vaccination if the vaccination was not performed before the beginning of your sexual life.
- The HPV test can be useful even if you have already been vaccinated, the vaccination only protects you against the HPV types it targets, so you can become infected with other HPV types.
- In addition, the HPV test is suitable as a supplement to cytology , which has a high rate of false negativity (on average, out of 100 positive cases, it does not detect 20).
What types of HPV tests the test
We use a very accurate diagnostic method that detects at least 14 high-risk HPV genotypes, identifying the most risky two. Specifically, these are HPV 16 and HPV 18
Elements of the sampling test
- The fine fiber brush is used to conveniently remove the vaginal swab. The bristles are made of fine material and do not irritate the mucous membranes. In the laboratory, the brush can be separated from the body of the kit itself, placed in a liquid medium that fixes the cells in solution and thus your sample is ready for molecular diagnostics.
- The body of the collection set itself is made of plastic and is durable, in the body of the set there is a pull-out mechanism, which ensures that the brush is pulled out before use and re-inserted after use.
- A rotating mechanism for the rotational movement of the brush, during which an adequate amount of material is removed for a molecular biological examination to take place.
- Plastic wings are used to separate the part that slides into the vagina. For a proper examination, it is essential that you do not touch this part (the part facing upwards) or any part of your body, clothing or the like.
- The cap serves as protection of the sampling part of the HPV test and the brush itself from possible contamination.
What the package contains
- Self-sampling HPV test with marked expiration date. Check that the barcodes on the plastic bag, the informed consent form and the instructions for use are the same
- Inner envelope with return address
- Informed consent of the person accessing the HPV examination. Please fill in the consent and do not forget to sign it and then send it back together with the used test to the address which is printed on the envelope. The sample CANNOT be examined without a signed informed consent.
Recommended use
Each package contains instructions for use. We also recommend watching the video tutorial.
The envelope, together with the information leaflet, contains the sampling aid itself (test) with instructions for use, the client’s written consent to perform a sample examination in the laboratory and a return envelope with a completed addressee. The used HPV test must be sent by Post. Place the collected sample and written consent in the envelope with the return address, which is stated on the envelope, and send it by registered mail (you will have control over the shipment), or usually. Within about 20 days, the Cancer Research Foundation will deliver the result to you by mail or email (of your choice). Read the result, and then take it with you to a general practitioner or gynecologist.
