Competitive displacement of androgens in target organs leads to relief of symptoms in androgen-dependent conditions, such as abnormal hair growth in hirsutism, androgenic alopecia, and increased function of the sebaceous glands in acne and seborrhea. A decrease in the concentration of androgens, due to the antigonadotropic effect of cyproterone, provides an additional therapeutic effect. These changes are reversible after discontinuation of the drug. When combined with Diana®-35, ovarian function is suppressed.
